Our mission as the Backstage Foundation is “To serve, shelter, and support families and individuals in the Greater Houston area.” The foundation was started by Vanessa Raanes and her son, Holton Farnum.
Founded in June of 2017, the first project we tackled was Operation Backpack, where we provided 50, fully-stuffed backpacks, for children in our community. From there, we have worked on many projects including our Scholarship program for young adults who have aged out of foster care, sorting food at the Montgomery County Food Bank, collecting items for Living Water International, 600-item drive for the Montgomery County Animal Shelter, Pulling dogs from the shelter with Operation Pets Alive, Hurricane Harvey relief, Operation Backpack 2018 edition + more.
We love working supporting charities that our clients’ feel strongly towards.
Check Out A Few Of Our Projects
Angel Reach Christmas 2018
We provided gifts for 20 young adults who have aged out of foster care. We had so much fun using their list to go shopping for them and picking out the perfect gifts for each one.
Food For Seniors
The last Thursday of every month, we assist the Montgomery County Food Bank with passing out food to their seniors who live in nearby senior housing facilities.
Operation Pets Alive
In 2018, we partnered with Operation Pets Alive to pull 2 pups from the shelter. We paid for their boarding while they were waiting to be sent up north to be adopted!
Food Sorting For MCFB
We have so much fun when we assist the food bank with whatever is needed that day. Here we are sorting through pounds and pounds of rice!
Operation Backpack 2018
For the 2nd year in a row, we were able to provide 50, fully-stuffed backpacks to children in our community. We wanted them to start the school year off right!
Hurricane Harvey Relief
After the devastation that the hurricane caused our city, we felt compelled to help. We bought bread, diapers and canned goods to donate. We even encountered our mini-horse friend!
